Adult Program General Information |
Adult Developmental Training Program Hours:
The New Horizon Adult Program operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

New Horizon Center’s Developmental Training program offers training opportunities with an emphasis on the reinforcing functional skills. On an annual basis, an individualized service plan is developed and implemented.
Adults can expect to receive program components that allow them to become independent in self-help skills, including:
- Intensive use of Augmentative Communication Systems for language development
- Functional daily living skills, such as: washing and drying dishes, bed making, laundry, menu planning, preparation of simple meals and snacks, grocery shopping, etc.
- Community-based curriculum highlighting recreational and community resources that foster learning and proper use of leisure time
- Technology program that provides access to adaptive computers and switches, specialized programs that reinforce sequencing of developmental learning and communication alternatives
- Gross motor activities that emphasize coordination and balance skills, including an exercise program that promotes a healthy lifestyle
- Decision-making opportunities that offer choices throughout the program day
- Home-based facilitation services
